NEGOTIATED PLACEMENTS 2013-2014
Fine Art Student’s ‘Placements’ 2013-14
Developing the theme of ‘placement’ opportunities for BA students at Staffordshire University it is encouraging to report on the success of the ‘Self-Initiated Creative Arts Project’ (SICAP). It has been an inspiration for many and a professional challenge for all those courageous enough to select this optional module. Indicative of this success is the extension of the opportunity as part of the ‘Practice/Placement’ core provision for all students at this level of study. My role as a supportive consultant continues but the broadening of student involvement, across the cohort, has necessitated the change of leadership to contracted members of the Fine Art team. From autumn 2013, Liz Lemon will lead on the evolving ‘Placement’ coordination and progress will be monitored as a shared responsibility. Initial meetings have followed the established pattern of starting with the student’s personal concerns, passion and enthusiasm for their ‘Practice’. Showcasing a summation of this personal work remains an option and starts the process of image selection and drafting appropriate commentary. What is shared here on this website is the developing understanding. What will follow, in due course, is their placement experience extracted from the concluding illustrated report. We wish them well. Professor Tom Davies. 6.11.2013 |
