From Camera Obscura to IT
‘The project began with an introduction to photography. This included the historical and technological evolution of the camera and photographic process, with reference to Fox Talbot and Daguerre, from camera obscura to the modern automatic SLR. The project was supported by various cameras dating from the turn of the century. Photographs from negatives coated in hand made emulsion which were made on a home-made camera were shown and discussed. This led to pupils designing and constructing their own cameras obscuras. By drawing over tracing paper the pupils captured the images which were created at the back of the camera obscuras. The ‘captured images’ were then processed.’
