Abstract
Behind the Screen was a three year collaboration between Brazil, Finland and United Kingdom. Students used digital media to create artwork that critiques the effects of technologies on identity, politics through intercultural contexts and exchange, drawing on a range of source material. Behind the Screen is about three different educational systems [EBA/UFMG Brazil, UCE/BIAD/PGCE United Kingdom and UIAH/ArtEd Finland],and their ways of dealing with the technological and sociological changes in society. The Behind the Screen exhibition was based on international collaboration for developing curriculum for the use of information and communication technologies [ICT] in art education. Traditional university collaboration was extended to the new collaborative environments provided by European SchoolNet [EUN] and Virtual School, into communication and collaboration between compulsory schools and vocational training. The concept of the EUN being "the network of networks" and the Virtual School "teachers meeting teachers", colleagues exchanging ideas, materials and experiences and having discussions on everyday-problems. |
The online exhibition was a perfect example of bold international collaboration, and as such, we envisaged that this exhibition was the beginning for future international electronic curriculum for computer supported art education.
