Wholearthmedia: Access to Tools without Boundaries - New York 2002
Abstract
The InSEA invited seminar enabled our international research team to briefly share ideas, concepts and aspirations for a growing community of screen-based users. A special online matrix website was constructed by Jukka Orava for the conference and each presenter navigated the electronic environment to access appropriate content. Additionally a second screen simultaneously sampled digital video data related to workshops conferences and teaching environments. In other words 'the media provided the message’.
The thrust of this joint presentation (UK,Finland, Brazil) is the scope for ICT to create new teaching and learning opportunities in the visual arts. Working together through experimental workshops and presentations, we seek to promote collaboration and new learning environments. Sharing information and teaching materials, we anticipate creating interactive on-line tools to support collaborative and flexible learning spaces. University students and teacher trainees ownership of the distance learning support will be provided by the European Schoolnet, Virtual School Art Department infrastructure.
