the art in every child matters
This last A4 conference, prior to the organisation being absorbed into the National Society for Art and Design Education (NSEAD) as a standing committee, focused appropriately on aspects of Ken Robinson’s contribution to the debate. A common thread was the contribution that the arts make to creative enquiry and how Robinson’s report entitled ‘All Our Futures: Creativity, Culture and Education’ (The Robinson Report, 1999) had supported the ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda. Presentations addressed the fact that this needed to be sustained and reinforced in a variety of contexts.
The various presentations served, in part, to systematically unpack components of this report in relationship to regional initiatives. Here my personal commentary and critique addresses the issues raised, the questions and doubts.
I indicated that my role had been to support the continuation of the Advisers/Inspectors in its current form and that this would be my last report.
