The ‘media’ is a challenge in terms of crisp definition as it is so much a dimension of contemporary 21st century living. Underpinned by the concept of the digital, ‘digital media’ is ubiquitous and is embedded in all aspects of social and technological interaction. Since the 1990’s we have been keen to map its development in art education and make links with the international research development that serves and supports the notion of a global society.
"When the book 'The Medium is the Massage' came back from the typesetter's, it had on the cover 'Massage' as it still does. The title was supposed to have read The Medium is the Message but the typesetter had made an error. When Marshall McLuhan saw the typo he exclaimed, 'Leave it alone! It's great, and right on target! Thus, there are now four possible readings for the last word of the title, all of them accurate: Message and Mess Age, Massage and Mass Age." Wikipedia
