This publication pointed to the paradox of advocating ‘risk’ and 'challenge' in visual education while adopting Government inspired dictats on content and teaching methodology. An increasingly
centralist approach to education was seen as stultifying creative, alternative thinking, and the emerging ‘national requirements’ promoted ‘commonality’ across the fields and disciplines of education rather than celebrating their rich differences of approach.
