Charlotte HowellPreviously my artwork has evolved around childhood and landscapes; I combined both themes to create fantasy like illustrations commonly found in Fairy Tales. My current artworks are created using mixed media materials resembling the home, including crochet, wallpaper and knitting. My practice is mainly based on my identity and by using homely materials helps me to portray an aspect of Nostalgia to the viewer.

Placement Context Secondary School Workshops, Contemporary Practice/Art history, Staffordshire. |
Charlotte Howell: Project / Placement Abstract.
My project was to work alongside the Art Department at Alsager School. I worked with the same Year 8 class in three different lessons. The majority of the art history taught at the school is focused on 20th century artists, so my intention was to make the children aware of contemporary Fine Art practice. I organised this through a set of workshops. They created charcoal, chalk and collage artworks based on idea of ‘Machine Parts’. I believe that the activities gave a sense of freedom and independence in the use of new materials and techniques. The aim was to allow the pupils to become aware of the methodology of contemporary art practice and to see the vast amount of possibilities from a single concept/trigger. I hope that the impact of the workshops secured a worthy outcome in terms of their own artwork and their future aspirations. |
Chloe ChattonThe body, every human being possesses one, we spend our entire lives within this vessel; living, experiencing new things and loving. As an artist I strive to successfully portray my explorations into how the human body can be represented as an object/’vessel of desire’ through the medium of photography and video. I begin my experimentations by drawing from my own experiences of what I believe desire to be and how it affects my own body. This opened my eyes to the physical reactions and changes that occur within the female body, of which I was previously unaware. Much of my practice involves capturing these bodily occurrences, involuntary physical reactions and then attempting to present them in such a way as to initiate a thought within the viewer in relation to their own bodies.

Chloe Chatton: Project / Placement Abstract
My interest related to the support that I could offer for a former college department. My proposal for a contribution to Stoke-on-Trent College related to a role of exhibition leader. Here I wanted to offer an off-site exhibition opportunity for the photography students. I also offered my skills within Fine Art and assisted in a variety of roles supporting tutorials, lectures and studio shoots. The exhibition process is still ongoing and shall not be completed until roughly July. I am currently continuing to attend the college to offer my assistance and support the planned public exhibition. |

My work is very reflective of the type of person I am and the emotional experiences I’ve had growing up. A lot of what I do involves the reutilizing of salvaged objects such as dolls, clothes and other objects that I have a personal affiliation with, these objects are then reassembled to create sculptures or installations that are designed to commentate the experiences that inspired them.

Placement Context Art Therapy Workshops, Mental Health Initiative, Stoke-on-Trent |
Lisa Marie Williams: Project / Placement Abstract
Art therapy is something that I practice personally every day, as it provides a stimulus against certain negative impulses that can lead to the worsening of an illness. In my case the mental health problems are minor; however I have been made aware through close relations of much more serious mental health issues that depend on the practice of creative activities. It is this awareness that inspired me to involve myself temporarily within a close network of individuals with varying degrees of difficulty. My motivation was to support workshop therapy, share my own practice, analyse engagement and collect information (with permission). The contribution was thought to be mutually beneficial as the connection with my current practice was strong. |
